Things to consider when booking an all Universal vacation. Whether you're adding some serious time to Universal before or after your stay you can't go wrong staying onsite. There are three beautiful hotels to consider for your stay: Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort All Loews hotels are pet-friendly. The biggest benefit of staying onsite is the ease of travel - you can take a waterlaunch to the front of the parks throughout your stay, but even better is that you get to go to the front of the lines at all of the attractions as many times as you would like. This only comes with your stay onsite. You can purchase a Universal Express Pass for each member of your family if you stay onsite but it will still only get you through each attraction one time.

Things to consider when adding Universal to your Disney package:

You shouldn't consider adding Universal unless you've already allocated a minimum of 4 to 6 days in the Disney parks and a day or two to rest or wait out bad weather as needed. We don't recommend adding Universal for your first time trip to Walt Disney World because it is so easy to underestimate how long the Disney parks can take and how exhausted you will be if you push too hard to get everything done. If you are still wondering if Universal is right for you, consider the following to help you make your decision: Universal is made up of two parks: Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. Most attractions are unsuitable for babies and toddlers. Roller coasters, Extreme simulator rides starring Universal and Nickelodeon Characters and other intense experiences make up the majority of both parks. Also, a good portion of Universal gets you wet - often very wet! This makes pre-teens, teens and young adults the target audience for all things Universal. You can see your favorite superheroes, visit Jurassic Park and ride through some favorite television shows all in a couple of days. If you aren't booking during the off season, we recommend you add the Universal Express Option to your passes or you may only see part of the parks due to long lines. This gets you to the front of every ride and show and the price varies according to the time of year. You can add an All Universal Vacation either before or after your Disney package and receive the Universal Express Option for free for the duration of your stay, which we highly recommend if you can spare the time!

FAQ about adding Universal or any outside experiences, i.e. SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Wet'N Wild, Cape Canaveral or any of the many Orlando experiences to your existing Walt Disney World package:

  1. Can I still use Magical Express if I go off property during my Disney stay? Yes, you can. We recommend you either add a rental car to the beginning of your stay or to the end of your stay, which means you will pick it up at the airport and drop it off at the Car Care Center onsite at Walt Disney World or you'll pick it up at Walt Disney World and return it to the airport when you're ready to fly home. You'll still be able to utilize Magical Express for the other end of your journey. Most families opt to add it to the end of their stay because that gives them more flexibility at the end of their vacation. Your 3D Travel Agent can add a car rental to your package for you. You can rent a car for as few as 48 hours and they will pick you up at your resort hotel or drop you off as needed so you can pick up your car.
  2. How do the other parks compare to Walt Disney World? They don't. Sea World has amazing aquatic experiences that Disney can't provide and Universal has many more big thrill rides for the young and adventurous. When you go to any outside park you'll be tempted to compare it to Disney, but there is an intangible quality that is always missing when you go offsite - the Disney magic. If you're traveling with little bitties or you're interested in a beautiful, peaceful park with tours and experiences for all ages - just go to Disney. However, if you're looking for more thrills, chills, loud music and hair raising coasters, add Universal to your stay! If you'd like to add a park the whole family can enjoy, consider Sea World.
